65 E. Central Blvd. NEW: All History Center visitors with paid admission receive validation for two hours of free parking in the Library Garage (one parking validation per party of visitors). Historical Society members receive validation for four hours of parking in the library parking garage. The History Center is handicapped accessible with elevators on every floor. Two handicapped parking spaces are available on the north side of the building on E. Washington Street.

The History Center is located on the corner of Magnolia Ave. and Central Blvd. in the heart of downtown Orlando. Parking is available in the garage located across from the public library at 112 E Central Blvd. Also, the Lymmo bus service provides free public transportation from many spots in downtown Orlando.

“First Man” is a look at the life of astronaut Neil Armstrong and how he became the first man to walk on the Moon, fifty years ago on July 20, 1969. This 2018 film stars Ryan Gosling as Neil Armstrong and Claire Foy, from the TV series “The Crown,” as his wife. The movie received including two nominations at the 76th Golden Globe Awards (winning Best Original Score), ten nominations at the 24th Critics’ Choice Awards (winning Best Editing and Best Score), seven nominations at the 72nd British Academy Film Awards, and four nominations at the 91st Academy Awards (winning Best Visual Effects).
Our SunScreens Sunday matinees features films linked to Florida. We’ll supply the popcorn, along with fascinating facts about each film. There’s nothing like seeing a movie the old-fashioned way: with a group of fellow movie fans. The series is free for members! Popcorn and beverages will be provided.
