Today, Mumford & Sons announced they will be playing three headline shows in Florida this September, with support from Hiss Golden Messenger. This is the band’s first return to the Sunshine State since their 2013 Gentlemen of the Road Stopover in St. Augustine, FL. Mumford & Sons play Orlando’s Amway Center on Thursday, September 21. Tickets go on sale to the general public on Friday, 23 at 10 a.m.
With five albums into their career (three studio, two live) Mumford & Sons find themselves at another junction. They could go in whichever direction they choose. These men do things differently and unconventionally. The world is a big place and they want to see it all and meet everyone and last year was a prime example. Everyone is familiar now with the story of how nobody quite imagined it exploding the way it did, quite so emphatically. Mumford & Sons are four amiable, talented lads from West London, one inexplicably clinging to a banjo and now one of the most successful bands in the world, and one of the most hard-working too—Marcus Mumford (lead vocals, electric guitar, acoustic guitar, drums), Ben Lovett (vocals, keyboard, piano, synthesizer), Winston Marshall (vocals, electric guitar, banjo) and Ted Dwane (vocals, bass guitar, double bass). They play it like they really mean it, from the heart.
Mumford & Sons has released three studio albums—“Sigh No More” (2009), “Babel” (2012) and “Wilder Mind” (2015). “Sigh No More” peaked at number two on the U.K. Albums Chart and the Billboard 200 in the U.S., with “Babel” and “Wilder Mind,” both debuting at number one in the U.K. and U.S., the former becoming the fastest-selling rock album of the decade and leading to a headline performance at Glastonbury Festival in 2013. The band has also issued two live albums—“Live at Shepherd's Bush Empire” (2011) and “The Road to Red Rocks” (2012).
The band has won a number of music awards throughout their career, earning the Brit Award for Best British Album in 2011 with “Sigh No More,” and six overall Grammy Award nominations. The live performance at the 2011 Grammy ceremony with Bob Dylan and The Avett Brothers led to a surge in popularity for the band in the U.S. The band received eight total Grammy nominations for “Babel” and won the Grammy Award for Album of the Year. The band also won the Brit Award for Best British Group in 2013.
